Past projects

To do my portfolio I am going to re-work some project I did later in the year to see if I can improve them a little bit, I am not sure which ones I can show improvement on the most so I  am going to evaluate ones that stood out to me.

Project 1:

Cobra website

Here is a project I did which was about changing the Cobra website, What I did here was I wanted to make the website more interactive and bring in more girl customers. To do this I did two sections of the website called girls night in, and boys night out, these pages linked in with things you can do while enjoying the beer. Such as an online Indian cookbook for recipes for the girls, and lists of and reviews of places to eat out which sell the beer for boys.

Project 2

Loose Women App Project

For this project we got told to chose any brand which we could design an App for, the brand I decided to go with was Loose Women. The show has not yet got any kind of app so I chose this one and as it is a talk show based on the women's opinions I decided the app was going to be based on an agony aunt service.

Project 3

Apple promotion

We had to promote a brand - I chose Apple. It was Christmas time and the campaign I came up with was 'give a gift' for every item you bought from Apple through Christmas a gift would be given to under privileged children. To promote this I decided to use Apples Facebook and Twitter, mail outs & the Apple website.

Project 4

T-shirt design project

For this project I had to design a T-shirt for the brand Respect for young boys.
We had to do 3 designs taking inspiration from brands such as GSTAR.

Project 5

product development

The Mail-out doesn't look as professionally done as it should do, brighter images and more examples of handbags could have been used, with product examples and prices ex..

Images could be clearer
not much information on the mail out, customer profile bored could have more information and look deeper into the customers likes/dislikes.

Here is a new mail out I created, I am not sure if this project is going in my final portfolio but I wanted to touch it up..

First attempt at CV design

After previous research I am now going to try designing my own creative CV for fashion buying. The main tools I am going to use for this are Photoshop and Illustrator.

I wanted to keep the graphic simple, because its for a fashion job not a graphics job, however I still wanted it to stand out.

I like how the symbols of Photoshop ex, are used instead of writing it down, however I think the text could be seen easier if it was a darker color.

This is my first CV I have designed, I am going to design others to give me a choice when choosing my final one.

I have changed the text as I found it difficult to read when printed...

Here is my final design, the black text worked best when printed, and I added a logo.

Business Insider

http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-what-recruiters-look-at-during-the-6-seconds-they-spend-on-your-resume-2012-4#ixzz1rfmfcdJ2

Here is a link to tips on what recruiters look for in your CV.

Useful tips I learnt from this:

- 'In the short time that they spend with your resume, the study showed recruiters will look at your name, current title and company, current position start and end dates, previous title and company, previous position start and end dates, and education'

- With such critical time constraints, you should make it easier for recruiters to find pertinent information by creating a resume with a clear visual hierarchy and don't include distracting visuals since "such visual elements reduced recruiters’ analytical capability and hampered decision-making" and kept them from "locating the most relevant information, like skills and experience."

Examples of creative CV

I am going to look at some examples of creative CV's..

News paper layout on CV, simple and makes everything clear and easy to read..

She has used a layout which is familiar to almost everybody, it looks interesting and could reach an employer on a more personal level..

A themed CV for the right job, this guy wanted a job with Google so made this CV in the layout of the page, this could also work with almost any brand or job..

This CV is so simple and fun, it makes you want to try it out, and while doing this the person reading it learns all your skills..

Adding graphics and a theme, making it look creative and unique..

I liked how a real photography was used, it is a lot different then something designed on the computer..

Icons and symbols are used in this to show the proficiency in software, this is so much more interesting and easy to understand then plain and simple text..

After looking at these CVs I found a useful link about designing your own CV

The most important tips I got off this link was
- make sure your personality shows in your CV
- make sure you stand out
- they reinforce a theme
- some create a story

Looking at fashion related CV's

I really like the magazine website layout of this CV, it works really well with almost any fashion related job and looks professionally done like a real website..

Minimal information on this, the sketches work well, the design inst to complicated but complements the job of a graphic designer well..

This was sent off to the company toms, I like how well the person has linked his CV so well in with the brand..

Good use of vibrant colors, looks very neat and well put together while at the same time being creative and able to stand out..

your own styling/photography or other work Incorporated into the theme of your CV..

Main points of brief

- Present a digital portfolio
- Min of 3 projects from second year, all must be re worked
- Title pages for each of these
- Creative CV

I will use this blog for research and development during this project.
